Learners could find irrigated but unused grass landscapes that could be re-purposed by planting native plants and wildflowers instead. This project requires coordination with the local government and builds an understanding of civil engineering. Learners will need to become comfortable planning their materials and using modeling software to design how the space will look when the project is complete. Learners will need to explain the benefits to the community to justify the funds needed to embark on this transformation. This project will ultimately save water on irrigated grass that’s rarely used, and help the local ecosystem thrive—not to mention it’ll make the space look a little more alive.
